The Saluda County Historical Society
 In 1986 the Saluda County council appointed the Saluda County Historical Commission, which in turn organized the Saluda County Historical Society. In 1987 the Society developed a constitution and bylaws and secured an eleemosynary state charter. Later it gained 501 (c)3 status with the Internal Revenue Service.
In 1993 the membership voted to restructure the organization by having members elect an Executive Board to govern the Society. February 2012 Society Meeting

Carol Hardy Bryan of Edgefield will conduct a “how to” session for those wanting to begin a genealogy search of family members or the experienced who need a few fresh ideas. Carol is a past president of the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society and edited their Quill publication for a number of years. If you do a search for her name on the internet, you will find she has researched a number of family groups. Taste It 2010 - "After Flat Grove" with Dr. Bela Herlong
The Sunday afternoon was cheerful and sunny when members and guests of the Saluda County Historical Society met for its annual “Taste It” at Flat Grove, the boyhood home of Alamo Hero James Butler Bonham. Everyone was seated in the front parlor when to our delight – Sophia Smith Bonham, entered from a bedroom and began packing a little worn trunk and then started talking to us, and we could hear! 75th Anniversary of the Saluda Theater
On Saturday morning, July 30, at 11 am, a professional storyteller, Jessica Willis, presented a program at the Saluda Theater commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Saluda Theater. |
